Welcome
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the post of Secretary to the Board & CFO with the Central Finance Board of the Methodist Church. (CFB)
The CFB and its sister organisation, Epworth, play a critical role in the provision of fund management services to the Methodist Church and to a range of other faith based organisations and charities. Established under the Methodist Church Funds Act 1960, the CFB is not required to be regulated by the FSA, although Epworth is. As such, the CFB is fully committed to delivering best practice in all of its operations.
As Secretary to the Board & CFO and reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be a key member of the senior management team. You will contribute to CFB and Epworth's overall strategic direction, play a crucial role in driving performance, lead and implement change to ensure that we continue to deliver an exceptional quality service and will be pro-active in managing and mitigating investment risk for the CFB, Epworth and clients. Specific responsibilities will include acting as CFB Secretary, overseeing the administration of all CFB & Epworth managed funds, managing compliance issues and ensuring effective strategic and operational financial management, control and reporting.
This is a high profile and challenging role, with responsibility for some complex and intellectually challenging parts of our business. We are looking for somebody with a strong financial leadership background, with a relevant senior management track record, exposure to secretarial and compliance matters and critically, experience of relevant investment and fund management work. Whether your career background is in the private or public sector, you will have absolute integrity and will be an analytical thinker, with a commercial eye and the intellectual rigour and relationship skills to be credible and influential with all our key stakeholders.
However, this is no ordinary job. We are looking for somebody who will share our values and whilst not necessarily a Methodist, is a Christian (this post is subject to an occupational requirement that the holder be a Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010) because of its representational role and its responsibility for maintaining a Christian ethos within CFB as one of its senior officers. We have no doubt that this will be a challenging role, with some complex, but interesting areas of focus. If you think you have what it takes to help to deliver a successful future for CFB, then we look forward to hearing from you.
Bill Seddon
Chief Executive
